The Salmon City Council is partnering with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, local citizens, governmental agencies and interested groups to organize and establish a standing Air Quality Advisory Committee. The focus of this effort is to develop and implement a voluntary action plan through the EPA PM Advance Program. The action plan developed by and for local stakeholders will be aimed at improving air quality in the City of Salmon and surrounding areas through a variety of potential options.
Salmon has a long, well documented history of PM2.5 pollution impacts and is in danger of exceeding national ambient air quality standards. It is expected that through the timely action of a focused program, designation by EPA as a PM2.5 non-attainment area can likely be avoided.
Participation by agencies/stakeholders is critical to the success of the advisory group and the program.
